Learn Something New Everyday

When you plant sweet potato vine that it actually grows sweet potatoes?  Well I did not realize that until this year when the women at the nursery told me.  Pulling out the summer plants and replacing them with fall plants  in my front planters I did in fact find a few potatoes.  Can’t say I know too much about plants.  Obviously it makes sense they would grow, I guess I just never really gave it a thought.
I love these vines because they are so easy to grow and add a great chartreuse color to the landscape.  Before we added full landscaping to the yard the vines were perfect ground cover since they grow so fast.  Doing a quick search some sources claim they are edible while others say they are not.  Likely I will just use them to grow more vines.  Anyone ever eaten the potatoes from the sweet potato vine?
